Thank you for your support of the May 9, 2019 Rye Rotary Foundation Annual Dinner that took place on May 9, 2019 to Honor and Celebrate Dino Garr’s 300th game win and the life of Jim Yedowitz.

Over 120 guests gathered at Whitby Castle, including Rye High Class of 65 alumni to future graduates, Rye City School District administrators, faculty and retirees, Rotarians from Rye and Rotary District 7230, and friends and neighbors. Dr, Eric Byrne, Superintendent of Schools, was the gracious emcee.

Dr. Eric Byrne officiated with presentations from the New York State Senate and Assembly, the Westchester County Executive, the Westchester County Board of Legislators, and the official Honor and Celebrate award ceremony. The ceremony began with a surprise when over 40 Rye High School students entered the dining room, led by track and football captains holding the Garnet “G” banner. The captains joined Dr. Byrne at the podium as the students gathered around.

The ceremony began with bouquets of flowers presented to Cathy Garr and Anne Yedowitz followed by Rye Rotary Foundation plaque presentations. The Dino Garr presentation was assisted by Declan LaVelle and Brendan LaVelle. The Jim Yedowitz presentation was assisted by Benjamin Johnson and Cian Galligan and accepted by Daniel Yedowitz (Jim’s son).  To further commemorate the occasion, the students presented a signed RHS football to Dino Garr and a signed RHS track jersey to Daniel Yedowitz.

Other event highlights included a live podcast by Westchester Talk Radio (https://www.podomatic.com/podcasts/westchestertalkradio/episodes/2019-05-20T09_57_16-07_00), a roving reporter from the Rye Record interviewing guests, and a live auction fundraiser conducted by Rye Rotarian, Tom Mullooly.  Be sure to visit  www.ryerotary.org to see all of the event photos.
